Roleplaying Information of What Rp entails, definitions and how storylines work. More will be added as is needed. All information was used from several other Roleplaying websites.

MSRP: Multi-Storyline Role Player. This means that the Role Player does many different stories with the same character. They could have four lovers, but they’re all different versions of the same characters and so it is not cheating. So they can be with person A and person B but the stories in which person A is with them, person B does not exist.   (( this is very very hard to do and most people can not do it))

God-Mod (GM): Depending who you ask this can mean two different things. Either having an all-powerful character or trying to control another persons character. Or playing a character that can not be killed all characters must have a weakness and can be killed.God Mod, AKA Autoing. God-modding is basically being impenetrable and indestructible in every possible way. Don't do this, even if you are roleplaying a God of some sort. Remember: if your character gets killed in a particular storyline, you do not have to declare early retirement and kill off your character completely. Also, autoing is when you try to hit someone and they somehow "always hit without missing." This can also be called character controlling, controlling other characters, etc. It's insulting to the other roleplayer if you suddenly -throw a tomahawk at them with no chance of escaping- because it's pointless.

Power-Play (PP): Trying to control another persons character. This is generally an illegal move.

One-Liner: This is a type of comment (Also used to refer to a type of RPer). A one liner isn’t a comment that is just one line always, it is anything under a paragraph. Just because you write 2-4 sentences does not make you a para.

Para: Type of comment (again, used to refer to a type of RPer as well). A para RPer is someone who typically writes a full paragraph as a comment, they are more together than One Liner comments typically with more descriptor words. Some consider para anything from one paragraph to two short ones. Writing a paragraph and a sentence or two does not make you a multi-para, sadly.

Multi-Para: Type of comment (used to refer to a type of RPer as well). A multi-para comment is a comment that is generally three or more full paragraphs long. More descriptor words, generally more substance (at least hopefully) than the One Liner and the Para. Dividing a para post into three four sentence “paragraphs” does NOT make you a Multi Para RPer! Dividing your paragraphs into five or more “demi-paragraphs” does not make you a novella player.

Novella: Type of comment and RPer. There is some debate amongst RPers as to what makes a true Novella roleplayer. Some will say it is upwards of seven or more paragraphs but generally you can get away with it with five (occassionally four) lengthy paragraphs. A novella comment is generally articulate, well worded, and engaging. Novella posts can get VERY long and novella writers often take their writing seriously.

RPG/RP- stands for roleplay game or just roleplay
1x1- a roleplay between two people (hence one by one)
Indie/Independent- roleplayers who are not a part of a bigger RPG and roleplay a character they created on their own, with other independent roleplayers
Crossover- a roleplay involving two different fandoms (i.e, The Vampire Diaries and The Hunger Games)
AU- stands for alternate universe, meaning the roleplay takes place in one
FC- stands for face claim, usually a celebrity who represents a character’s face.
Affiliates- are other roleplays that one would be associated with, to gain more popularity within the roleplay community
OOC/IC: out of character, in character
Magic Anon- sometimes called m!anon, it is a suggestion/order by an anon of what your character should do for a certain period of time (i.e, gender swap, turn into a cat/dog)
RFP- means removed for privacy, and is most likely seen on an accepted application
OC- original character (as in one you write yourself, not the admins)
Para- short for paragraph, “para” is essentially a story between your character and another, describing them interacting together. It’s purpose, in most cases, is for the roleplayer to develop their character’s personality and reflect on their emotions/feelings, and is usually 2-4 paragraphs long. Example here.
Sample para- is what you write for auditions, so that the admins of the roleplay can decide whether they believe you have captured the character’s personality accurately. Example here.
Self para- is a para a roleplayer would write with their character only, meaning nobody would reblog it and add their half. Its purpose is for the roleplayer to develop their character and delve into their thoughts. Example here.
SL: Storyline. This is essentially the string of comments back and forth or the general idea/outline of a RP you are doing. Not to be confused with S&L.

OTP: One True Pairing. An OTP is a pair of characters that you fancy as a couple and hold in the highest regard as, essentially, soulmates in your mind.

AU: Alternate Universe. Used to signify that whatever the statement/comment is, is taking place in a universe/dimension that is separate from the normal.

NPC: Non-Played Character/ Not Pictured Character. This is when an RPer controls the actions of a background character. The background character is the non played, as it does not have it’s own actual profile/player. Often used to play out waiters at restaurants, police officers, pedestrians, etc.

"Meta-Gaming"

This means: When a player has become aware of or told about information pertaining to or directly regarding an ongoing storyline or situation and then, by means of role play, uses that information either to their own benefit or as a means to interact with/against other players.

Simply, using what they learn OOC, IC.

Examples are instant rescues after someone is captured, or instantly finding a cure for a curse cast 30 minutes ago.

Often, no RP is involved at all.

This is extremely aggravating for those of us who are trying to provide fun and possibly in-depth story lines.

DON'T DO IT!

Closed RPs: These kinds of RPs do not allow their members to interact with anyone outside of the directory (groups they have invited into their rp).

Plotting: When people ask to plot or talk about plotting, they mean discussing ideas for roleplay situations and figuring out a plot for that particular RP. An example of an RP plot would be two characters discovering a secret about another and in the plotting process, the two muns or typists (see M or T) would hammer out the details about the sequence of events in the RP. You can also plot out relationships (this would consist of a timeline-based plotting more than anything else).

Old School: It’s simple really just para or multi-para with loose rules. Don’t have to have a specific 5 sentences for each paragraph or any of that. This style is predicated on creativity entirely. All there is too it really, just be creative, train for your powers, train to keep up your power. Simple things, you can’t just come into role-play with 10 powers when practicing this style. The way a lot of the role-players from 06, which are still around today, role-play.

Newb: Person new to role-play.

Noob: Person who should know how to role-play correctly but does not.

Pseudo Judging: This is during wars or battles where people call on their real-life friends to judge battles giving them a real-life inside track on the victory, it does not matter how respected this friend of theirs is, don’t let them fool you, this is completely biased action, you can NOT have your real-life friends judge battles for you, it ruins role-play in general and sucks the fun and fairness out of role-play.

Subtle Autoing: Autoing done in a way that is concealed by using horrid description of your attacks. People will defend them by putting a before, would, or could in there or something else nonchalantly to save face. Don’t be fooled their intent is to confuse beginner role-players excusing with these crock of shit excuses. They know they autoed but do not know any better. Teach them by relaying my information to them. This has became a recent problem on facebook. It’s to point you have to power play or do your own subtle autoing to ever win battles nowadays quite pathetic.

Combo Attacks: Attacks not dependent on the actions of previous attacks, they can be performed even if the first is to miss. Example: She sends a punch towards his gut, whether or not it were to connect, she’d still send a sweeping leg kick after wards. Unfortunately these leave you wide open for counters in a lot of cases, nullifying the attacks sent after-wards.

T1 Old World: It’s simple from what is told about it. In turn, it’s just not revealing your powers or such until they are needed in battle. Really some will get pissed off about this, but seriously if you can’t handle a battle without knowing your opponent’s powers you don’t deserve to role-play. Role-play is all about surprises moron. When charging or prepping make sure to make a hint, you can’t leave things out until the last minute. Then they can’t say you pulled it out of no where. Also say electrical currents ran through your blade once it is drawn, that should be said, so if you get close, they can’t bitch you pulled this out of your ass.
